DGA To Come on Board as Northwood Course Sponsor

Ledgestone TD Nate Heinold is announcing that DGA is coming on board as the Northwood Course Sponsor and a Major Sponsor of the Discraft Ledgestone Insurance Open in 2020. Nate has enjoyed a close relationship with Scott Keasey of DGA for many years and this agreement furthers that relationship. Nate had the full blessing from Discraft to ink this agreement. DGA’s discs are made by Discraft, and Discraft’s baskets are made by DGA. This is our 6th announcement in our series of announcements titled the Ten Days of Ledgestone.

This agreement will see all AM players getting a DGA disc in their Ledgestone player packs, as well as the tournament offering up special Limited Edition DGA discs for sale through the Ledgestone vendor program. “It is great to announce a new partnership with DGA. The baskets that DGA produces are of the highest quality, and several of our area courses utilize their product. Westwood and Northwood Park both feature DGA products. We are thrilled to have their support for the 2020 version of this event,” said Heinold.

Disc Golf Association (DGA) is both the leading manufacturer of disc golf course equipment and the sports founding company. Since 1976 DGA has worked both in the forefront and behind the scenes to sow the seeds for disc golf. Today disc golf has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and has extended its reach into South America, Europe and Asia. DGA was established by Ed Headrick (the inventor of the modern day Frisbee and the father of disc golf) in order to introduce people to the sport he founded and to help people get disc golf courses and programs into their local parks, schools, and camps. Ed Headrick coined and trademarked the term “Disc Golf” when formalizing the sport and invented the first disc golf target, the Disc Pole Hole. For more information please visit www.discgolf.com

DGA was the course sponsor of Northwood for the 2019 PDGA Pro Worlds and that partnership worked out well for both parties. By 2021, Northwood will feature two 18 hole courses (the original course and the gold course), and both of those courses will feature DGA Mach X Baskets. The original course will include the orange powdercoated DGA baskets while the Gold course will include the gold/yellow powdercoated baskets. The current version that is playable at Northwood is called the Gold course, which includes some of the original course and some of the gold course. The final version of the gold course is currently being designed, which will include 13 additional holes being added to the property. The Northwood version of the course that was utilized in the 2019 PDGA Pro Worlds will be utilized in the 2020 event. Our hope is that the additional holes at Northwood will be open and playable in 2021. “We actually have both sets of baskets in hand as we speak. The rest of the gold/yellow baskets are currently in storage and waiting to be installed,” said Heinold.

The 10th Annual Discraft Ledgestone Insurance Open will take place August 13th through 16th in Central Illinois.
